About a year ago I started trying to create a technology in C# MVC that would save me from having to do the same mundane stuff over and over again when creating a new website.
PortalCMS was born, initially it was just an MVC project that handled the authentication and some basic copy management, but now it has grown significantly. Within 12 months it has reached a milestone I didn't expect it to reach.
I had always hoped that I could create a framework that would enable me to only write the truly bespoke functionality needed for a website, for example if I was building a Pool League I just want to focus on the Pool League, not on logging in, security, architecture and the additional pages of bluff you need to create to make it a rounded website.
PortalCMS has now reached that point, you can deploy the source code to Microsoft Azure or any shared hosting provider and immediately create web pages in your browser without writing any code at all. Then when you want to write bespoke functionality you can simply write partial actions and render them onto copy managed pages!
I can now move onto the next phase, which is to use PortalCMS as a consumer, rather than adding tons of new features, so expect to see more projects coming out soon.
If you are a .NET developer, check it out and see if it saves you time and effort too.
If you want to check out Portal CMS, Its free and open source; you can find it here - https://github.com/tommcclean/PortalCMS
