How to Repair the Missing “Show Desktop” Shortcut

There are times, like when you are working in a browser, when you need to see the desktop, but the shortcut isn’t there. This is a result of being able to hide the desktop in Windows 10. So, how do you get around this? First you have to have a way to access the hidden desktop. To do this, you need to enable the “Show Desktop” option in the Start menu:

Windows has lost a shortcut that used to appear on the taskbar when you logged on. Instead, users must launch Windows Explorer or a Command Prompt—which is a bit of a downer, since some of us are big fans of the Command Prompt. The good news is we can easily get this shortcut back.

One of the more often-used Windows shortcuts is the “Show desktop” command. It’s a great way to quickly switch between your open applications. Unfortunately, if you don’t use this shortcut frequently, it can often become disabled. You can re-enable it simply by right-clicking on the taskbar and clicking “Show desktop.” However, that’s a cumbersome and time-consuming way to re-enable the shortcut. Fortunately, there’s a quick and easy keyboard shortcut that’s even more convenient.. Read more about my desktop disappeared windows 10 and let us know what you think.

This post will show you how to fix the problem if the “Show Desktop” button on the Windows 10 taskbar is missing or not working. The “Show Desktop” button is located in the bottom right corner of the Windows 10 taskbar (next to the Action Center icon).

You may view or preview your desktop by hovering your cursor over this icon, and if you click it, all the apps and folders in the taskbar are shrunk to reveal the desktop. This notification may be useful if the Show Desktop button is missing, not working, or not available.

There is no obvious cause for this issue. It could have occurred as a result of a Windows 10 update or for another cause. If you do run into such a difficulty, though, you can try some of the suggestions in this article.

Due to a momentary problem in the operating system modules, the “Show Desktop” shortcut may be missing. This problem can also be caused by a group policy setting or a script used by the user to delete the button.

When the “Show Desktop” shortcut does not display to the right of the system clock, the problem occurs (usually at the right end of the taskbar).

Make sure your machine isn’t in tablet mode or that Group Policy is causing the problem before you start seeing the “Show Desktop” icon on your Windows 10 taskbar.

You should use the same script that you used to remove the “Show Desktop” button to restore the “Show Desktop” shortcut to the taskbar.
