Windows 10 has been out on the market for a few months now, and many users have been asking for the old start menu that was available in Windows 8, but Microsoft doesn’t plan to re-introduce it.
Microsoft removed the Start menu from Windows 11. This has led to a lot of complaints from users who like the old way of doing things, especially since the Start button is still in the newer version of the operating system. For the most part, the complaints have been valid. But there was a way to get the old start menu back.

- After the release of Windows 11, users began to customize user interface elements using some registry hacks.
- The most popular change was the Start menu, which now looks just like it does in Windows 10.
- However, with version 22000.65 of the new operating system, it will no longer be possible to modify the Start menu with these hacks.
- Most users, especially those who use this method, are not at all happy with Microsoft’s decision.
Earlier, we talked about some of the registry hacks that Windows 11 users have used to customize some of the existing user interface elements.
However, in the new version, these commands are outdated and no longer help you make the desired changes.
Start menu registration week does not work in version 22000.65
Microsoft is constantly working on its next operating system and aims to have it up and running by the end of the year.
Users constantly send bugs and suggestions for Windows 11. With such an army of testers at your side, it becomes much easier for the technology company.
And now that they’ve reintroduced the bash bug event, users will be even more inclined to make the most of the operating system.
After a series of tweaks and changes, Microsoft has released a new version of the operating system called 22000.65. In this new version, some of the registry tricks mentioned above just don’t work anymore.
@JenMsft I noticed that in version 22000.65, the option to restore the old start menu (Start_ShowClassicMode) no longer works. Is there any chance you will bring this amendment back so people who REALLY want it can use it?

For example, a hack that still sucks restored the Windows 11 Start menu to look like Windows 10.
If you remember, they used a :
Set HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedStart_ShowClassicMode to 01.
Some users are not very happy with this solution, as they miss the old user interface elements and for some reason cannot get used to the new way of working.
Social media is full of information about these changes, and many people disapprove of Microsoft’s decision.
We’re sure this won’t be the last time the Redmond-based tech company hears of user exploits targeting its new operating system and quickly develops a patch.
Indeed, as you can imagine, no matter how user-friendly Windows 11 is and how much creative freedom everyone has, the company still has to meet certain standards.
So we have to wait for the final version of the operating system and only then we can make a final judgment.
